Oval Gear Flow Meter

Oval gear flow meters are indeed mechanical devices used for measuring the flow of liquids. They operate based on the positive displacement principle, meaning they measure the volume of fluid that passes through them by trapping it in chambers formed by the gears and then transferring it downstream.

The oval gear design provides accurate measurement even with viscous fluids like oils and fuels such as diesel. They’re widely used in various industries for applications where precise measurement of fluid flow is essential, such as in fuel dispensing, chemical processing, and food production. And because they’re mechanical, they can be relatively cost-effective compared to some other types of flow meters.

The oval gear flow meter consists of a rotating element and a counting mechanism which is either a pointer or a transmitter. A heat sink can be made to fit between the transmitter and the counting mechanism to protect the measuring instrument from high temperatures. The Oval Gear Flow Meter has a measuring chamber with a pair of precision-made elliptical gear rotors. The counting mechanism consists of a reduction mechanism, an adjustment mechanism, a counter, and a transmitter when necessary.
